Niki Ferguson
Niki Ferguson, 58, of Marianna, Florida, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 5, 2025. Born on November 26, 1966, to Sue St. Claire, Niki was later adopted by Lester and Nellie Comardelle. She also spent much of her childhood with her beloved Maw Maw Eve, who helped shape the woman so many came to love.
A proud graduate of Hahnville High School, Class of 1984, Niki met the love of her life, Don Ferguson, and together they built a life overflowing with love, laughter, and memories that spanned four decades. Their 40 years together were marked by deep, unconditional love and the shared joy of raising their children.

To know Niki was to know strength, compassion, and an unshakable love for her family. Her greatest pride and purest joy in life were her children and grandchildren. They were the center of her world and the light in her every day. She was endlessly proud of them—never missing a chance to brag, beam with joy, or shout her love from the rooftops. Cheering from the sidelines at sporting events, celebrating school achievements, and simply being present for life’s everyday moments—those were the times when she shined the brightest. Supporting her grandchildren wasn’t just something she did; it was who she was. They were her heartbeat.
She was lovingly known by many names— “Mama Niki" and "Aunt Niki"—and no matter what you called her, the love was the same. She was nurturing, funny, bold, and beautifully full of life. Her gift was making everyone around her feel seen, heard, and deeply loved. Her door—and her heart—were always open. She was the one you went to when you needed someone in your corner, a hug that said everything, or a little bit of tough love, wrapped in kindness.
A Louisiana girl through and through, Niki loved seafood—especially boiled crawfish—daquiris, Mardi Gras, and all things Cajun. She had a lifelong passion for reading and was rarely seen without a good book and her signature Coca-Cola. But more than anything, she loved being surrounded by her people. Family gatherings, game nights, and everyday moments shared with those she loved brought her the most joy.
Her voice—always a few decibels louder than necessary—was as unforgettable as her laugh. And that laugh? It lit up every room. It will echo in our hearts forever.
Niki was preceded in death by her beloved daddy, Lester Comardelle; her sister, Margaret Rabon; her nephew, Keith Ferraro; and her niece, Keysha Bourque—cherished loved ones she missed deeply.
She leaves behind a family who loved her fiercely and will carry the weight of her loss with aching hearts and lasting love: her devoted husband of 40 years, Don Ferguson; her three children—Trey Ferguson, Sheyla Ferguson, and her “baby,” Harley Ferguson, along with her beloved daughter-in-law, Breanna Ferguson, whom she loved like her own; and the absolute lights of her life—her grandchildren, Q Ferguson, Cooper Ferguson, and Ada Ferguson, whom she loved with a depth and fierceness words could never fully capture.
She is also survived by her mother, Sue St. Claire; her bonus dad, Tyrone “Pops” Edwards; her sister, Nancy Bourque, and brother-in-law, Armond Bourque; her brother, Rush Carlton, and sister-in-law, Jamie Carlton. In addition, she leaves behind a large extended family of bonus children and bonus grandchildren, beloved nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends she called her sisters. Niki collected people the way others collect treasures—because to her, people were treasures.
Her absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but her spirit—loud, loving, and larger-than-life—will live on in every heart that had the privilege of knowing and being loved by her.
Memorialization will be by cremation, with details regarding a celebration of life to be announced by James & Sikes Funeral Home.
