Eloied “Odell” McKinnie

Eloied “Odell” McKinnie age 93 of Slocomb (Campbellton’s Stateline Community).  God called him home and let peace be upon him on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Southeast Health Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, November 21th at the Shira, Sr. & Chelcie McKinnie Memorial Chapel located at 5304 Bowden Hill Road, Campbellton, Florida with Reverend Johnny McKinnie officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Cemetery Campbellton, FL with Mckinnie Funeral Home of Campbellton, FL directing.

A public viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday, November 20th, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Shira, Sr. & Chelcie McKinnie Memorial Chapel.

Odell McKinnie, son of the late Lewis McKinnie and Mary Lue Daniels -Jetta El, was born on July 3, 1932, in Campbellton, Florida. He worked on the family farm for many years and at Rex Lumber Company in Graceville, Florida before relocating to New Jersey. He spent the next 30 years working for Ford Motor Company until his retirement in 2004. After retirement he decided to return home and reconnected with the beloved church of his late father, St. John A.M.E. 

Odell was a loving and caring soul with a beautiful smile who dearly loved his family especially his big brother “SH”.  He would often say, “I just don’t know what I would do if my big brother wasn’t around.”

Odell was preceded in death by his son: Calvin McKinnie, his parents and five siblings.

Cherishing his memories are three children: Lois Jean Lewis of Hamilton, NJ, Sherryl Elaine Hickson key of Miami, FL and Anthony McKinnie of Irvington, NJ; grandchildren: Joseph Dupree Lewis III (Cathy), Trakini S. Michell and Herman Lee Hickson II; great-grandchildren: Torey K. Baker, Shanyia D. Baker and Nyla E. Caldwell; three siblings: Shira McKinnie, Sr., Mary Lois Britt and Catheria Nell Murray; two brothers of love: Mancefield and John Hitchmon along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
