Paul Lawrence Morgan
God in His infinite wisdom summoned Paul Lawrence Morgan age 72 of Marianna, FL to his eternal home on Monday, July 27, 2026 in the comfort of his earthly home surrounded by his loved ones.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 8th at the New Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where Steven Andrews is the Church pastor located at 2155 State Hwy 73 Marianna, FL with Pastor Dennis Libert officiating. Interment will follow in Baxter-Morgan Memorial Gardens Cemetery located on Hi Road Marianna, FL., with McKinnie Funeral Home of Campbellton, FL directing.
A public viewing will be held from 4 to 6p.m., Friday August 7th at the Shira Sr. and Chelcie McKinnie Memorial Chapel located at 5304 Bowden Hill Rd. Campbellton, FL.
Paul was born in Marianna, Florida to the late Walter and Annie Marie Morgan on October 13, 1953, the eighth of eighteen children. He grew up in a Christian home where the values of faith, hard work, respect, integrity and compassion were instilled in him. From an early age these principles shaped the man he became.
Paul graduated from Marianna High School Class of 1973. Upon graduating from high school, he attended Chipola Junior College and studied Culinary Arts. He was employed at Sunland for 35 plus years. He was a faithful worker and had much compassion for the residents there.
In May of 1989, he met the love of his life, Carolyn Levett Sorey. They were united in Holy Matrimony on April 14, 1991. Through this union, Paul gained a family of four sons whom he raised as his own.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son: Demetrius Sorey; two sisters: Nadine Morgan-Jackson and Daisy Mae Morgan; three brothers: Walter Morgan, Zechariah Morgan and Samuel Morgan.
He leaves to cherish precious and loving memories: a loving and devoted wife; Carolyn L. Morgan of Marianna, FL; three beloved sons: David (Susan) Sorey and Tony Sorey, both of Tallahassee, FL and Derrick (Linda) Sorey of Dothan, AL; sixteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two adopted nieces raised as his daughters: Sebrina Williams of Tallahassee, and Sheila Christian of Clearwater, FL; two goddaughters: Andreal Grant and Amelia Ann Morgan both of Marianna, FL; one godson: Fidel Montgomery of Riverview, FL; eight brothers: Elijiah (Luevernia) Morgan and Joseph (Jean) Morgan both of Tallahassee, FL, Isaiah (Joann) Morgan, Henry Morgan and Nehemiah Morgan of Marianna, FL, Nepton Morgan of New Orleans, LA, Hezekiah Morgan of Jonesboro, GA and Randolph Morgan of Sunderland, MD; four sisters: Betty Robbins (Percile) of Marianna, FL, Marie Green of Avon Park, FL, Patricia Morgan-Walters of Upper Marlboro, MD and Geraldine Capehart of Temple Hills, MD; three sisters-in-law: Rose Simmons of Tallahassee, FL, Linda Young-Morgan of Lanham, MD and Karen Morgan of Marianna, FL; one brother-in-law: Earl (Mary) Cooke of Chipley, FL; Special Buddies: Dennis Libert, Sharhone Dean, Shepherd Myrick, Chris Taylor, Jim Turner, and Lee Dell Kennedy and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
