Rex Foster Toole, Jr.

Rex Foster Toole, Jr. passed away June 20, 2025, at age 95. A longtime resident of New Orleans, originally from Marianna, Florida, Rex is preceded in death by his sister Eleanor Toole, his parents, Rex Foster Toole, Sr., and Tommie Edna Toole (nee Slater), and his beloved partner for nearly 60 years, Leonard Riley Harrington.  He will be missed by his surviving cousins.

Rex retired from the New Orleans Veterans Administration Hospital in 1995 after a long career as a Doctor of Internal Medicine where he was also appointed as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine of Tulane University School of Medicine. In addition, Rex served in the United States Army Reserves from which he retired as a Colonel in 1979.

Arrangements are being handled by Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home & Cemeteries. His family is planning a private service in the near future.  Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 1329 Jackson Ave, New Orleans, LA 70130 or to the American Heart Association.
