Billy Miller, 80, of Geneva County, Alabama, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. Born in Geneva County on June 18, 1944, to the late R.V. Miller and Dixie Blount Miller, Billy was a proud graduate of Slocomb High School. He dedicated over 30 years of service as a mechanic at Fort Rucker, Alabama (now known as Fort Novosel), where he worked on helicopters and contributed to the safety and success of countless missions.
Billy was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in cutting grass, gardening, and riding his motorcycle. He cherished traveling with his close friend, Joe Jernigan, and had a deep appreciation for reading, watching Western movies and the "Dirty Harry" film series. His passion for history was evident in his extensive collection of Civil War memorabilia.
An active member of the Graceville Lions Club, Billy served as the tail-twister, bringing humor and camaraderie to the group. He was also a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Graceville, where he actively participated in church activities and supported the community.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Martha Miller Habbard. He is survived by his sister, JoAnn Forehand; brother-in-law, Addis Habbard; nephews and nieces, Byron Forehand (Rita), Janet Deel (Doug), Lisa Dukes (David), Michelle Turvin (Keith), and Adam Habbard (Leslie); as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Home-going service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Graceville, with Dr. Naethen Hendrix and Dr. Jerry Windsor officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, with James & Lipford Funeral Home in Graceville, directing.
The family will receive friends at the church on Monday, 10 a.m. until time of the service.
Billy's legacy of service, kindness, and love for his family and community will continue to inspire all who knew him.
