Wallace Quentin Mayo
Wallace Quentin Mayo, age 79, of Marianna, FL passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026 at his residence. He was born on April 8, 1947 in Marianna, Florida to the late Susie and Ira Mayo.
Wallace dedicated most of his life to the gladiolus industry, as he studied, sold and improved the growth of gladiolus throughout the world. He began his career with Malloy's Gladiolus Farm and also worked for John Scott and the government helping to expand the growth of gladiolus. His service to the industry led him all over the country, including South Florida, California and Mexico depending on the seasons.
Wallace was passionate about the family farm as well. He raised a variety of farm animals, including pigs, cows and chickens. He would also grow fresh vegetables that he would give to family and others in need. Wallace was a lifelong Ham Radio Operator and was known by his fellow operators as "Mr. Wally". In his free time, Wallace enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family whom he loved dearly. Wallace dedicated his final years to caring for the love of his life, Carolyn Marie Mayo, until her passing in February of 2026. Together, they hold hands and walk through the gates of Heaven.
He was also preceded in death by his seven siblings.
Wallace is survived by his sons, Anthony "Tony" Wallace Mayo and wife, Reyna, Roxie Marie Anderson and husband, Jeff, Brandy High and husband, Johnny, and Damon Mayo; sister, Bessie Collins and husband, Bill; grandchildren, Justin, Brittany, Lincoln, Isaac, Cody, Nick, Dylon, Mikayla, Logan, Kyler, Charlie and nine great grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service will be 10 A.M., Thursday, May 21, 2026 at Vickery Cemetery with Chaplain Gino Mayo officiating.
Funeral services are entrusted to the Lambe family at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
