Zelna Elizabeth Bowling Metcalf

Zelna Elizabeth Bowling Metcalf, 76 of Marianna, Florida passed away August 3, 2026. She was born on September 23, 1949, in Lafayette, Alabama to Thomas Smith Bowling and Mattie Bess Abernathy Bowling.

She grew up surrounded by loving, faith filled family and friends. Zelna will be remembered for her sense of humor and love of music. Her favorite activities were the simple acts of enjoying God’s beautiful creation, including clouds, sunsets, mountains, the moon, and nature.

Zelna was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church, a born-again Christian, and was baptized at Trinity Baptist Church in Marianna, Florida. Zelna graduated from Marianna High School with the class of 1968. She worked in the banking business most of her career.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, James Bowling; and one sister, Alene Crosby. Her survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jason Lee and Jessica Wellman Metcalf of Alpharetta, Georgia; three brothers, George Bowling of Doerun, Georgia, Frank Bowling of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Russell Bowling of Marianna, Florida; two sisters, Mary Ann Hill of Scottsburg, Indiana, and Janice Brown of Marianna, Florida; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

A private service will be in Rocky Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made to the mission's fund at Eastside Baptist Church, Marianna, FL, or to your favorite charity.
