Word of the Day:
Friday: Murmuration: Noun. The act of murmuring; the utterance of low continuous sounds or complaining noises. The classroom filled with murmuration once the teacher stepped out of the room.
Saturday: Subitaneous: Adjective. That occurs or is manifested suddenly, spontaneously, or in haste, sudden, hasty, unexpected. He woke at 3:00 a.m. with a subitaneous solution for that nagging problem.”
Sunday: Riparian: Adjective. Of or relating to or living or located on the back of a watercourse (like a river or stream) or sometimes a lake. Native plants were added to stabilize the riparian bank and improve water quality.
Monday: Foofaraw: Noun. A great deal of fuss or attention given to a minor matter. There was a lot of foofaraw over something that I saw as just a minor quibble.
Tuesday: Hamartia: Noun. A fatal flaw leading to the downfall of a tragic hero or heroine. He refused to believe that his competitiveness could ultimately be his hamartia.
Wednesday: Terrine: Noun. A meat, fish, or vegetable mixture that has been cooked or otherwise prepared in advance and allowed to cool or set in its container, typically served in slices. The special of the day was one of my favorites, a salmon terrine served with rice.
Thursday: Gab: Verb. Talk at length, typically about trivial matters. I love it when my neighbor comes over and we gab over a cup of coffee.
