Whenever you saw Annie Lee and asked how she was doing, she would always say, “I’m Blessed and highly favored.” In which she was.
Mrs. Annie Lee ‘Chris’ Bostic Hughes was born February 5, 1947 to Hosie and Maggie Bostic.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. John AME Church in Campbellton, FL where she served until becoming hospitalized.
Annie joined Roy Lee Hughes, Sr in matrimony in October of 1971 and built a loving life together of almost 35 years until his passing in April of 2006. To this their union, three children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hosie and Maggie Bostic; husband: Roy Lee Hughes, Sr; daughter Barbara Lynn Hughes and several siblings.
Annie worked several jobs in the textile and sewing industry until retiring and becoming a homemaker. She had much to do with the raising of all of her grandchildren and great grands. If you ever had her food, you would know it was filled with love and flavor; but if you ate any of the peas and corn she cooked, it was highly likely that she picked, shelled and shucked them. She loved to have a good time and would dance until she got tired and oh boy, how she could sing a good soul stirring hymn or gospel hit.
She loved taking care of and serving others, spending time with her AARP members, and visiting the sick in the community, even when she wasn’t feeling her best. She also loved praying on the church prayer line, getting dressed up every day even with nowhere to go. She always made sure her nails and toes were done and you had better not cause them to break. She spent a lot of time doing word search puzzles and uncommonly raking the yard.
She leaves her memory with her oldest daughter: Brenda Hughes; one son: Roy Hughes, Jr.; four granddaughters: Parisia McCray (Jake), Bacarrdii ‘Kia’ Morrow, Zhakerra Hughes, Kalynn Hughes; two grandsons: Amarius Patterson-Robbins, Roy Hughes, III; great-grandchildren: Emory McCray, Elan McCray, Xolani Morrow-Works, Dayani Pruitt; two sisters: Pearl Glanton, Mary Emma Godwin (Jimmy Roy); one brother: Johnny Bostic; brothers and sisters in laws: Elijah Hughes (a special sister-in-law Dianne), Larry C. Hughes (Janice), Robert Robinson (late Alice Robinson) Joann Bostic and Helen Bostic. A dedicated friend: Ira Nell Davis and a host of nieces, nephews.
