Carolyn Marie Pittman
Carolyn Marie Pittman, age 87, of Sneads, Florida, passed away on April 8, 2026. She was born on July 2, 1938, in Jackson County, Florida, and lived a long life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and the simple joys that made each day meaningful.
Carolyn was a Christian woman whose life reflected kindness, strength, and steady love. She graduated from Sneads High School in 1956 and soon after married the love of her life, Bernard Pittman, on April 13, 1957. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and shared memories. Carolyn and Bernard were blessed with many years together until his passing, and she carried his memory with love throughout the rest of her life.
She was known by many as “Ma,” a name spoken with affection by those who loved her most. Carolyn had a warm heart and a welcoming spirit, and she found joy in caring for others. She liked to cook, fish, and babysit her grandchildren, and she treasured the time spent with family and friends. She especially enjoyed playing Canasta, both at home and online, and she loved shopping, riding in the car, gardening, and listening to a good gospel sing. When she was able, she attended church and found comfort and strength in her faith.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bernard Pittman; her father, David Roberts; her mother, Gladys Cook Roberts; her step-mother, Brinnie Roberts; her special aunt, Eldie Howell; her son-in-law, Norman Rabon; and her brother, Donnie Roberts. Their memories remained close to her heart, and she carried their love with her throughout her life.
She is survived by her son, Gary Pittman and his wife, Paige; her daughter, Lisa Pittman Rabon; her brothers, David Allen Roberts and his wife, Barbara, and Ricky Roberts and his wife, Susie; her sisters, Linda Reed, and Barbara Garrison and her husband, James; five grandchildren, Austin Pittman (Kristen), Dustin Pittman (Nichole), Gavin Pittman (Aliah), Madison Gilbert (Kody), and Mikayla Rabon (Jalen); and seven great-grandchildren, Kali, Averie, Brent, Waylon, Maelyn, Cade, and Estella. She is also survived by her special caregiver, Shirley Roqueplot; her special cousin, Shirley Reid; her lifelong friend, Vera Bodiford; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members who loved her dearly.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Emerald Coast Hospice, Dr. John Spence, and the nursing staff, especially Victoria and Crystal, for the wonderful care and attention given to Carolyn while she was in their care. Their compassion and support were deeply appreciated.
Carolyn Marie Pittman will be remembered for her gentle nature, her love of family, and the many ways she made life brighter for those around her. Her legacy of faith, kindness, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A Funeral Service celebrating the life of Carolyn will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026, beginning at 2:00 PM Central Time in the chapel of McAlpin Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.
