Robert Earl “Bobby” Joyner

Robert Earl “Bobby” Joyner, born May 2, 1951, in Chattahoochee, Florida, passed away Monday, June 1, 2026. Bobby enjoyed a full, happy life with his family until he was 51 years of age and began to live independently with assistance from the Agency of Persons with Disabilities and The Jackson, Washington, and Holmes Arc who provided him with the support he needed.  Bobby’s family will always hold a place in their hearts for the wonderful caring folks who treated Bobby with respect and care to make him feel special. He loved going to the Arc Center in Chipley for “School”, as he used to call it. And how special it was when they crowned him “King” at Tim Tebow’s “Night to Shine”!  He was beautiful in his Tux, wearing his crown and feeling special on that special night!

Bobby was preceded in death by his loving parents, Percy and Mattie Lee Joyner, big brother W. L. “Dick” Joyner, infant brother Eugene Joyner, infant sister, Hazel Joyner.  He is survived by his sister, Virginia Ann Joyner James and brother-in-law, Norman “Champ” James; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Some would consider Bobby having a difficult life. Those who knew his close family, inspired by loving parents who taught their children to love, be thankful, appreciate God’s grace, love, and forgiveness, to have been fortunate.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Bobby will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, beginning at 2:00 PM EASTERN TIME in Shady Grove Baptist Church. Interment will be in Shady Grove Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. McAlpin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
