Sneads Rec League Soccer Wrap Up

  By: Shelia Mader

Sneads recreation soccer took on a new look this season. When players, parents and fans arrived at the fields, they were in awe of the positive changes. The citizens now serving on the Sneads Recreation Board deserve recognition for their efforts off the field. They’ve renovated the concession stand, cleaned up the park, and made a real difference for families and kids in the community. Their hard work shows in every game played under the lights.

5–7 League is learning the tricks of the kicks

At this age, it’s all about learning the game, having fun, and competing with friends.

Jaguars vs. Turbo Turtles

The Jaguars picked up a strong 5–1 win over the Turbo Turtles. Myles McIntosh got things going with a goal, JB Clark found the net twice, and Brooks Ballard and Creed Varieur each added one. For the Turbo Turtles, Brayley Davidson put her team on the board with a nice shot past the defense. For the Jaguars, it was Charlie Goodwin scoring the lone goal.

Bombshells vs. Thunder Ducks

The Bombshells and Thunder Ducks battled to a 5–3 finish in favor of the Bombshells. Kayson Garrett, Oakleigh Lauderback, and Michael Segers all scored to keep their team ahead. Stats for the Thunder Ducks were not available, but the close score showed they kept the game competitive until the end.

8–10 League

This league has a couple of seasons under their belts and they are ready to show what they’ve done to the younger group and for the older group to see what’s coming.

Goal Getters vs. Arsenal

The Goal Getters blanked Arsenal in a 4–0 victory. Kamryn Robinson led the way with two goals, while Kieran Purdue and Abram Varieur each added one. Varieur also notched two assists. Coach Aaron Varieur praised the team’s defense, saying it was a full group effort: “Defense played great and it was an entire team effort on the defensive side of the ball. I’d like to give shout outs to the names but I got 13 kids on the team and that would be a lot!”

Goal Getters vs. Barcelona

In a defensive battle, the Goal Getters came out on top once again, edging Barcelona 1–0. The difference-maker was a goal by Kieran Purdue. Strong defensive plays by Maverick Lanier, Shyla Chavers, Cole Dickson, Abigail Wiggins, and Jariyah Porter helped keep the shutout intact. Coaches said afterward, “The whole team hustled and so it was a good effort.”

11–14 League

This is the granddaddy of them all – they’re on their way to play soccer at the high school level but before they do, they want to show what they’ve got to the younger squads.

Sasquatches vs. Warriors

The Warriors topped the Sasquatches 2–1 in a tough contest. Jaydon Chavers and Maddox Lanier scored for the Warriors, while Rhys Griffin found the net for the Sasquatches.

Warriors vs. Sasquatches

When the teams met again, the Warriors came out even stronger, earning a 4–0 shutout win. Leetie Green had a standout game with a hat trick, and Jordan Chavers added a goal to round out the scoring. The Warriors’ energy was high from start to finish.

Check out the schedules, pick you a team, and head out to the park to cheer on some eager players. You won’t regret it. Make it a night and have supper on the sidelines from the conessions!
