The Cottondale City Commission officially appointed Andrew Roedel as the city's new police chief Monday night, placing a veteran law enforcement officer with more than 26 years of experience at the helm of the department.

The Cottondale Ozone All-Stars punched their ticket to the state tournament in Frostproof after a dominant run through district play, finishing the tournament undefeated with two wins and a tie.

It took just three games for the Sneads AAA Pirates to claim a district title and begin preparations for a State title. They will report to the State Tournament June 25 in Frostproof.
