AA is living it up on the diamond
It’s catchup time for AA and we have scores and stats for games played by seven and eight year old boys giving it 199% every game. They are in no particular order.
Twins squeak by the Mets
It was tighter than tight and decided on a walk-off hit by the Twins’ Oliver Self sending one to the outfield that drove Dominic Decker home for the winning run. The Twins took the win 7-6.
The Mets scored two runs in the first inning starting with a leadoff double by Jaeden Cannady who scored with one out on a double by Ander Kite. Ander scored with two outs on a single by Sawyer Kleiser. Asher McConchie singled to put runners on the corners but a strikeout left them both on the bags. The Twins countered with a run in their half of the frame. With one out, Tyler Smith doubled and scored with two outs, on a single by Brody Signorelli. Silas Schuler joined the hit parade with a double that scored Signorelli but was left on the base when the next batter went down swinging.
The Mets put up a goose egg in the second inning despite back-to-back singles by Elijah Wiggins and Adam Brewton. The Twins added a run in their half of the inning. Seth Schuler hit a round-tripper to make it a 2-2 game.
The Mets answered with a run in the third inning starting with a leadoff double by Maverick Maddox. Maddox stole third and scored on a sacrifice by Sawyer Kleiser. Oliver Self led off for the Twins with a single, followed by a single by James Garrett but three consecutive outs left them on the bases.
In the fourth inning, the Mets’ Grayson Hall singled with one out and moved to third on a single by Ander Kite. Maverick Maddox cleared the bases when he nailed a four-bagger, making it a 6-2 game. The Twins rallied with five runs in their half of the fourth inning to win the game. Tyler Smith got things started with a double and scored with two outs on a double by Silas Schuler. Schuler scored when Davis Alday made it three doubles in a row. Seth Schuler found a little extra punch and cleared the bases with a long ball. Dominic Decker singled to set up the walk-off hit by Oliver Self that ended the game when Decker crossed the plate.
Twins Cubs make it a slugfest
A total of 22 runs crossed the plate on 29 hits with the Twins taking the victory 13-9.
The Twins jumped out with five runs in the top of the first inning. Olive Self led off with a single and moved to second on a single by Jayden Williams. Maddox Gilbert singled with Self scoring on the play. Silar Schuler made it four hits in a row with Williams scoring on his single. With one out, Brody Signorelli added two RBIs to his stats and scored on a passed ball before the inning came to an end. The Cubs went down in order in the bottom of the frame.
The Twins added a run in the second inning to make it a 6-0 game. With two outs, Oliver Self singled and scored on a hit by Jayden Williams for the last offense of the inning. The Cubs had a two-out single by Jace Garney in their half of the inning, but a groundout to first left him on second base.
The only offense for the Twins in the top of the third quarter was a one-out single by Tyler Smith. The Cubs got their offense going in the bottom of the third inning and with two outs. James Garrett was the true sportsman when he joined the Cubs, crossing over from the Twins, to give them nine players. He singled and scored on back-to-back singles by Bryson Gray and Shawn Leslie. Mason McCall and Redic Williams continued with a pair of singles to score Gray and Leslie before the inning ended.
In the top of the fourth inning, the Twins’ offense came alive with seven runs crossing the plate. With one out, Davis Alday singled and moved to third with two outs on a single by Dominic Decker. Oliver Self, Jayden Williams, Maddox Gilbert, and Silas Schuler put together a string of hits with four runs scoring. With two outs, Brody Signorelli kept his hot bat and drove home a run before scoring on a passed ball for the final run of the inning. The Cubs brought their offense to life in the bottom of the frame, but they came up shy of a comeback. They plated six runs starting with a leadoff single by Jace Garney. Luke Bell, Royce Peaden, and Nikoli Williams put together a string of hits that scored three runs before a two-out hit by Bryson Gray scored another run. Shawn Leslie had a single before Redic Williams and Weslee Jenkins added the final two hits of the inning, plating the last runs, four shy of what they needed for a comeback.
Twins win close one against Mets
It was a true back-and-forth game between these two teams with the Mets posting two runs in the top of the first and the Twins answering with one run in the bottom of the frame. After the Mets were held off the board in the top of the second, the Twins tied the game with a run in the bottom of the second. The Mets moved ahead with a run in the top of the third with the Twins being held scoreless in their half of the inning. After the Mets were retired in order in the top of the fourth, the Twins added four runs in their half of the frame, taking a 6-3 lead into the final inning. The Mets tied the game at six in the top of the inning. The Twins closed out the game with a single by Oliver Self that scored Dominic Decker who led off the inning with a single.
Leading the Mets offensively was Maverick Maddox and Ander Kite, each with two hits and two runs scored. Jaeden Cannady and Grayson Hall were on board with a hit and a run scored each, followed by Sawyer Kleiser, Asher McConchie, and Elijah Wiggins each with a hit.
For the Twins, it was Tyler Smith, Seth Schuler, and Silar Schuler with two hits and two runs scored each. Davis Alday and Dominic Decker added a hit and a run scored, followed by Brody Signorelli, River Everett, Oliver Self, and James Garrett recording one hit each.
