Graceville Civic Center proving to be the hub of Graceville

It’s been nearly 50 years since the Graceville Civic Center was just a dream, a project to bring a central location for the citizens of Graceville to host events at all levels. It wasn’t built without some controversy with many worried it would deteriorate for lack of use, but a half century later, it’s proved that the commissioners made the right decision. The members present at the November 1977 meeting were Henry Ezell, E. J. Cooper, and Jerry Gardner. Present at the June meeting in 1977 were Henry Ezell, Alyce Boyd, Buddy Williams, and Jerry Gardner.

Chipola College has educated families in the panhandle and beyond since 1947 when it opened its doors. Betty Ford Hatcher is a graduate of Chipola College and remains a proud alumna of the college. Sara Hughes Makes History as First Woman President of Marianna Rotary Club

In a moment of quiet but powerful history, Sara Applewhite Hughes recently became the first woman president of the Marianna Rotary Club, marking a new chapter in the organization’s proud legacy of service. While she is the first to hold the gavel, she is quick to point out she was not the first woman inducted. That honor belongs to Carmen Smith, who joined in October 2015. Hughes followed just a few months later in January 2016.
