The Makos capped off an outstanding season by claiming the Optimist Park Ponytail Championship with an impressive 9-1 record. More than just a talented group of players, the Makos distinguished themselves through their teamwork, sportsmanship, and commitment to one another, truly embodying what it means to be a team.

Blue Springs Recreation Area, better known to many as Jackson Blue Springs, is famous throughout the tri-state region for its crystal-clear, year-round 68-degree water, scenic Mill Pond and extensive underwater cave system. But beneath the surface lies another attraction: a remarkable collection of artifacts recovered from the springs over decades.

One of the towering live oaks that has stood watch over the Jackson County Courthouse lawn for more than a century and a half has been removed after arborists determined the tree had declined to the point that it posed a public safety risk.

The Jackson County Board of County Commissioners held two public hearings during its recent meeting Tuesday, approving a wireless telecommunications facility and formally supporting a regional transportation project involving the proposed Marianna Multi-Use Trail.
